Peter Thiel – Zero To One
Everyone in online business knows Peter Thiel. And most of the people wants to achieve at least part of what Thiel did. The book Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future
is the answer to the wishes and guide for entrepreneurs.
“Every moment in the business happens only once. The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won’t make a search engine. And the next Mark Zuckerberg won’t create a social network. If you’re copying these guys, you aren’t learning from them.” – This first verses from the Thiel’s books could also be the only ones he wrote, nd it would be an essential advice he gave.
In fact, it is not the first book that is full of good pieces of advice from successful entrepreneurs to the ones that wants to be successful. The problem is that not many of them will use this advice in real life. I wrote few awards about it in the article “The Biggest Marketing Secret Revealed“, but it’s universal and doesn’t work only for marketing issues. In reality, many readers will say that book is excellent, that they were looking for such a suggestions for a long time, and that’s it. They will do nothing else besides waiting for another book with another advice.
It’s the same with some entrepreneurs – they will read it, they will comment it on Facebook, they will even share some sentences from the book and after they will come back to their businesses to try to copy Bill Gates, Lary Page, Sergey Brin or Mark Zuckerberg. Or even Peter Thiel.
Besides the sentences I shared at the very beginning, there’s something more you should remember from this book. First – think differently than other people. Don’t try to make better Facebook, this job is in the hand of Mark Zuckerberg already. If you want to be successful, try to invent something that is different. Second – try to find your monopoly, because monopoly is good. For you.
I know, now you are dazed and confused. You heard all you life that monopoly is bad, that all you need to do with the monopoly is to fight with it, and now someone is telling you that monopoly is good. If you will get rid of prejudices and think freely, then you will understand what Peter Thiel is talking about.
Another worth to remember the question from the book is “What valuable company is nobody building?” If you find the proper answer, you just found your way to be a millionaire.
As you can see, there’s nothing revolutionary in the Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future
by Peter Thiel. So why I rewarded that book with five stars? Becuase it’s not usual to get advice from someone who is the so successful entrepreneur and investor. Even if he giving advices that you already heard. It’s even better, if you hear this advice again it means you should follow them as they work.
If it’s so simple, why don;t you try?
